Show Rocky Point Road Is To Be Widened The doploralile condition of Rooky Point, just west of the city and the highway that loads to West View and Clarion, is to ba repaired and put in a more passable shape, ar-Icording ar-Icording to the expression of the members mem-bers of the board of county commissioners commis-sioners at the regular meeting at Mauti last Tuesday. The work will start shortly and with the plans mapped map-ped out the highway, when repaired, will be a boulevard as compared with the present dangerous condition. A delegation of representative citizens from Gunnison, comprising O. B. Berglund, J. A. Tuft and W. H. Gribble, met with the board and at-'ter at-'ter a strong plea by the delegation, the commissioners agreed to take the, matter up at once towards improving improv-ing the road. The members of the delegation asked that the county dads give the residents of this section some recognition, recog-nition, pointing out the vast travel and the use of the road leading to the western section of the Gunnison valley. It was also shown by the petitioners before the commissioners that the road was not only dangerous, danger-ous, but was intricate to negotiate with heavy loads. It is planned to cut down the heavy grade at Rocky Point and also widen the road. The work will require considerable con-siderable time but with the proposed improvement the element of danger will be lessened and the highway will afford better travel for the farmers Who use the road in transporting their crops to the market. |
