Show Escalante Events I Marilyn Jackson A nice storm changed the dry and , dusty weather that had prevailed so long. Before the storm, many took the opportunity to get some outside work done. Mr. and Mrs. Vardon Woolsey have a new fence. A sidewalk at the LaRue Spencer home is underway. Mr. and Mrs. Lane Woolsey are adding on to their home and Mr. and Mrs. Jerold Judd's home changes daily with progress. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Gates removed some trees and have a new roof. The double-wide home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Smith arrived and is being installed at the Ron Schow lot. Bill will be attending school and is stationed in Alaska with the army. Wife, Kathy and children are trying to get last-minute preparations completed so they can be moved before school begins. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Rob Mitchell was moved to their lot across the street north of Melanie's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Barney. The local scouts attended scout camp at Thunder Ridge near Cedar City, but several got sick and cut the stay short. Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Cottam started on their trip to Canada, but needed up in Panguitch as Doyle became ill and was glad the hospital was close by. We have missed the visits from Mr. and Mrs. Ken Schow. They accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Roundy and Mr. and Mrs. Ushur Spencer on a trip to Expo '86. Twila Mclnelly returned from a week tour. She accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Max Behunin of Boulder to Calgary Canada and saw the sights along the way. Son, Richard and his family came to spend some time with his mother Elise Ott and help with yard work and building a fence. Elise also had a visit from her sister Edna Haycock and daughters of Lehi. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Williams have had their two grandsons of Idaho visiting. The boys are sons of Lee's daughters, making them cousins. Cherie Beebe returned from Beaver where she has spent the greater part of the summer with her aunt who has been ill. Daughter Nancy Hallows brought a friend and came from Colorado, and stayed a few days. The Don Colemans, Theron Mitchells and Lynn Gates returned from a camping trip to Otter Creek. Several babies arrived in time for the holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hyatt are parents of a new baby boy to be named Jonathan Scott Hyatt. They are in Parowan staying with grandparents. Word was received of the birth of a baby boy to Mr. and Mrs. Harlan i Smith of Kansas. His wife is hte former Tammy Spencer. The little lad, to be named Max Harlan Smith, j has two sisters at home. j Mr. and Mrs. Larry Poteet have a i baby daughter, to be named Callie Anne Poteet. j Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Dean Roundy came to spend a few days ; with mother Hilda Roundy and help ' with plumbing some irrigation lines. Rolain Trujillo has purchased the Lloyd Bacon home. Naomi Bolton on return from Europe got as far as Calif ornia when she learned of the sudden death of a brother-in-law. Berniece Johnson had a visit from her two grandsons of Arkansas. Son, Stephen Johnson and family of Leeds came to see the family and do some camping on Boulder Moun- 'j tain. Clorine Vidrine returned from a week's stay in St. George. i Mr. and Mrs. Randel Lyman went j to Bountiful for the wedding and ! reception of grandson, John Glen Palmer and bride, Lisa Allred. They were married July 17 in the Salt Lake Temple. Glen is the son of Rosemary and the late Reldon Palmer. Beverly Kuhns went north for medical checkups and to take records to the Valley Finance Co. auditor. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Spears have their long-time friends, Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Watson here from Hesperia, Calif. They recently returned from Los Angeles after the arrival of their eighth granddaughter grand-daughter named Arminda Rae Vargas. Marilyn Christensen is home after being hospitalized in Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Gregg Christensen returned ! from Salt Lake City where they spent the weekend. Townspeople are excited over the appointment of Jerold Judd as Garfield School District Superin- tendent and extend congratulations, j j 'i i |
