Show Road Interests Take Commission Prioitf V !li1 T . Road and related interests again took priority in the deliberations of the Garfield County Commissioners recently. The Sevier River Bridge is nearing completion and according to county road supervisor Ron Greenhalgh, there will be a quick - wrap-up of this project. Greenhalgh stated that the railroad flat car that had been used as a temporary bridge over the Sevier River will be a welcome addition to another portion of the county that suffered serious damage in the flood of 1984. Greenhalgh stated that while J. I. Case Company wished to recall their bid on a trash compactor, the commission decided to accept the bid of Scott Machinery Company, Cedar City, for the John Deere Trash Compactor 644-B at $98,988. He reported on specs for a backhoe from Nay Equipment Co. For any municipality, Nay offers an extra five percnet discount and an additional five percent discount. This brought the bid from Nay Equipment to $32,670, lower than the John Deere bid. The commission voted to table the backhoe purchase until budget time so that the county can look at the proposal next fall. Signs made for the Johns Valley Road by the forest service are now ready to be placed. Greenhalgh will note the sites for the installation of the signs. Greenhalgh also informed the commission that holes have been patched in the road at Kodachrome and that patching of the road to the Mammoth Creek Hatchery were completed in time for the dedication. Commissioner Guy Thompson attended a Color Country Travel Council meeting and asked the council to consider putting an overhead sign at the Pink Cliffs intersection. Thompson noted that the county needs better identifying signs at the 1-15 and Highway 20 intersection. The commission heard from Ray Barnes, Panguitch Lion's Club, as to the donated work the club has done and financed during the 1985-86 season, such as Judge's stand, grandstand, and restrooms at the race track. He asked for support from the county of $100. The county donated the amount asked for. Stock Enterprises who are leasing and operating the Backwood's Inn on the East Fork on Highway 12 have been granted a clas B beer license upon the successful acquisition of a proper bond. Garfield County Building Inspector Ins-pector Les Baker, presnted a fee schedule for building permits. The Uniform Building Code was reviewed, but the commission felt the fees contained in it were too high for Garfield County. County attorney at-torney Patrick Nolan was instructed to add a new fee schedule to the new permit ordinance. Any building that will have a construction cost of $1,000 to $10,000 will have a permit fee of $50; from $10,001 to $100,000, permit fee of $50, plus $3 per thousand over $10,000. Any structure costing over $100,000 will have a fee of $320, plus $2.50 per thousand over $100,000. In the event additional inspecting, plan checks, or professional services are required by the Garfield County Building Inspector, the costs of such services shall be paid by the applicant. ap-plicant. The commission adopted the new beer ordinance No. 1986-1, the new building permit ordinance No. 1986-2, 1986-2, and the new fence ordinance No. 1986-3. Flood Ordinance No. 1984-4 was also passed by the commission. Nolan explained that FEMA would withhold funds if the ordinance were not passed. The commission adopted ordinance or-dinance No. 1986-5, an ordinance amending sections 4, 5, and 8, of ordinance No. 1983-3 of Garfield County, relating to local option sales and use taxes, and increasing the percentage levy thereunder. Resolution No. 1986-3, authorizing the commission to enter into an agreement with southwest Mental Health Alcohol and Drug Center was approved by the commission.
