Show Garfield To Celebrate Pioneer Day Program July 24 will bring a variety of activities around the county as local communities celebrate Pioneer Day with festivities highlighting tradition and rural community events. Antimony will feature a 9 a.m. breakfast with an 11 a.m. kids parade. Boulder and Escalante who traditionally celebrate the Fourth of July and July 24 festivities together are planning an all-school reunion to which all former students and families are invited. The reunion will begin on Friday, July 24 with a registration of former students from 3 until 5 p.m., followed by a 5-6:30 dinner, a 6 : 30 until 8 program at the stake center, and an 8 p.m. rodeo sponsored by the riding club, followed by a dance at the gym, where pizza and pop will be available. The two towns' Saturday activities will include their early morning "cannon" and early morning bandwagon band-wagon ride. A 6:30 a.m. breakfast follows. At 10 a.m. a parade is scheduled with a variety show scheduled at the stake center at 11. A 12:30 barbecue dinner will be served at the stake center with a box car derby following at 2 p.m. An adult and kids foot and relay races follow the derby with a carnival for all. The rodeo begins at 8 p.m. with fireworks and a dance following. The dance will feature live, "Buckshot". Cannonville will have a 7 to 9 breakfast with kids races starting at 10, games in the afternoon and a bake sale running until the day's events are over. Hatch Town will start the holiday with a 7 a.m. flag raising ceremony by the cub scouts, followed by a 9 a.m. parade. At 10 a.m., races and games, will be followed by an 11 a.m. program. Evening will bring dinner by a $3 donation at the firehouse. Henrieville residents will start their ceremonies by a 7:30 until 9 a.m. breakfast and a 9:30 flag raising ceremony followed by a parade. At 10, games and concessions con-cessions will keep residents busy for the balance of the morning. Panguitch will begin its July 24 festivities with float judging at Panguitch Middle School at 9 a.m. and the annual Pioneer Day parade will begin at 10. A DUP program will follow at the stake center at 11 am. A barbeque beef dinner will take place at the park at noon at $4 per plate or $15 per family. A 2:30 carnival at the city park will be followed in the evening by an 8 p.m. rodeo. Tropic Town will have a 10 a.m. parade followed by a 10:30 flag ceremony. A bake sale will be held during the morning, with horse shoes, games, burgers, hot dogs, sno-cones and cotton candy. A 7 p.m. dinner at the bowery will feature fried chicken, potato salad, relish trays, rolls, fruit cup and lemonade. i' ..; i rv i i L. M Clem Church ! |
