Show Commission Acts on Many County Items The most recent minutes of the Garfield County Commission show the following actions: Representatives of the Henrieville Cemetery District approached the county commission to see if the county could or would pave the road to the Henrieville cemetery. The district is installing a sprinkler system at the cemetery and would like the roads paved to upgrade the area. Ron Greenhalgh, county road supervisor, reported some problems with yardage measurements at the Ticaboo Land Fill with respect to the Del Webb Corporation. Greenhalgh was asked to go to Ticaboo and discuss the problems with them. Bill Niebel, Panguitch Gem and Mineral Society, told the commissioners that the club is going to have a show August 22-24. The commision voted to place a $35 ad in the Rock of Ages Magazine. Doyle Ipson, Panguitch Lake, asked the commissioners to approve the oiling of a road at the lake. He proposed collecting $3,000 from some of the residents on the road, giving the money to the county for a portion of the oiling costs, and when the road is oiled, have the county maintain it. After some discussion, Commissioner Guy Thompson suggested that Mr. Ipson approach the Zoning and Planning Board about getting a 30-foot right-of-way. If approved by the planning com mission, and if the county oils the road, the county would only maintain it during the summer months. Marie Listen, Garfield County Fair Chairman discussed the budget with the commissioners and explained this year's proposed events. This is the first year that the county fair will feature a parade. She asked the commissioners for money to be used as prizes at the fair set for August 9-10. This year's theme Is "In The Good Old Summertime". Liston has asked mayors throughout the county and the county commissioners to ride in the parade. Wayne Ross, Garfield Memorial Hospital administrator, discussed the blacktop problem at the hospital. The county budgeted $6,000 for the paving at the hospital. |
