Show Tropic Topics Ella Adair A missionary testimonial for Mr. and Mrs. Afton (DelRae) Pollock will be held in the Tropic chapel on July 14 at 10:45 a.m. All friends and relatives are invited to attend, A testimonial for Jerri Moon will be held July 21 at 10:45 a.m. A dinner honoring the Pollocks was held at the town park on July 10. A similar dinner for Mrs. Moon will be held at the same place July 24. Ron Baugh and Deene Baugh visited with Sherman Baughs. Also attended the Maiben Johnson family reunion at Kings Creek Campground while in Tropic. Mr. and Mrs. Kerry (Donna) Nelson visited with friends in Tropic over the weekend. They have moved from Sandy to LaVerkin. Marian Shakespear had sons Donald, Dean, Val, Franz, Carl and daughter Palma, home for a family reunion. One daughter Ann was unable to attend. The Bryce Valley High School class of 1970 held a reunion July 6, with visiting at the park and dinner at Rubys Inn. Bart Palmer had his mother Gloria, brother Ruben and family visit with him. They had attended the 85th birthday party for grandmother Virginia Smith in Henrieville. The Dee Pollocks visited with the Adrian Pollocks. Dorma Barton visited with the Berdell Bartons, Lester Clarkes and Larvin Pollocks. The Ray LitUefields were in St. George for Ray to have eye surgery. They stayed overnight with daughter Renone Hodson in Cedar City before returning home, Roy Willis is a patient in the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. The Leland Pollocks had daughters Colleen and LaPreal home for a visit. The Virgil Pollocks had daughters Lori Dawn and Marie visit with them. While in Tropic Marie's son fell and broke his collar bone. The Young Men's MIA was reorganized. Released were William Pollock, president and Brant Barton, counselor. Kay Mangum is the new president with Lonny Pollock and David Pollock as his counselors. Florence Syrett is the new CTR leader in Primary. Megan Pollock, small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Greg (Lesa) Pollock was given a name and blessing by her father in sacrament meeting. Family members from out of town for the event were great-grandmother June Owens, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Owens, Mr. and Mrs. DeVon Owens, and Gary Owens. Randall Brant Barton the son of Mr. and Mrs. Brant (Shann) Barton was given his name and a blessing in sacrament meeting by his father. Special out-of-town visitors for the event, were great-grandmother Dorma Barton; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Higgins, Payson; Mr. and Mrs. Scott Barton and Gary Parker and Fred Parker, Las Vegas. A family dinner was held at the Scout House in the afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Adair attended the wedding reception for Mr. and Mrs. Greg Miles in Cedar City. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Pott visited with the Wallace Ott family. Mr. and Mrs. Birth (Kelly) Moore were at the Mate Baugh home. The Arnold Adairs had daughter Bonnie Miles, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Miles and Mr. and Mrs. Scott Carter spend the weekend with them. Carla Ramsay was in Cedar City on business. The Lester Clarkes are looking forward to having their son Richard visit with them, Richard has spent the past two years in Turkey in the Air Force and will be stationed in California for his new base assignment. The Give Bybees had daughters Sharon and Kay Lynn visit with them. The Levi Bybee famiy reunion will be held July 13 in the town park. |
