Show Bobcats End Season BY PAT DK A cardinal rule in athletics states: "Play the season one game at a time!" In olher words do not overlook your present opponent until you have beaten them! The Pangultch Bobcats broke that rule Tuesday and as a result fell victim to a determined Bryce Valley squad 18 to 10. The loss leaves the Cats with just the faintest of hopes for a playoff berth. Rodney Frandsen started for the Bobcats and after weathering a rocky start in the first inning settled down to pitch well enough to win. But he had a strong case for "non'supjwrt" as his mates committed 13 errors that resulted in 12 unearned runs. The Bobcats 12 hit attack was led by Kelly Holman and Dave Henrie with 3 hits each while Rodney Frandsen went 2 for 3 with a run scoring squeeze bunt The Cats mounted a threat in the seventh but once more were unable to hit with runners in scoring position. Friday, October 5, any playoff dreams of the Bobcats were snuffed out by undefeated league champ Gunnison. Panguitch's final standings were 3 won, 3 lost and "Wait 'til next year ! " Heartfelt thanks to reserve outfielder Dan Harris for the excellent way he kept the box score book to make this column possible. |
