Show 'Town Meeting' Slated In Escalante Tonight ESCALANTE A town meeting will be held Feb. 2 in the Escalante High School lunchroom. The meeting makes it possible for all people to be heard and gives an opportunity to examine community iiiwieiigca diiu w jui together ideas for community improvements. The Thursday meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. and go to 10:30 p.m. It is most effective when all age groups attend to express their thoughts. The meeting provides residents with an opportunity to get community problems, needs and ambitions "right out front," for working together to find solutions and to plan for the future of the community. Town Meeting Utah was developed by the Institute of Cultural Affairs, a non-profit research, training and demonstration group concerned with getting people involved in their own communities. Volunteers with the Town Meeting program have been working with high school principals and uurci uuiiiiuuiiiiy icbhd to organize the Town Meeting. Initiated as a Bicentennial program, Town Meetings have been held in over 2,000 communities across the nation. To date, nearly 20 Utah communities have held Town Meetings. Escalante will represent Garfield County in the current plan to offer this program to every county in the state. At the conclusion of the session booklets summarizing the accomplishments and stating ideas which were offered will be distributed to everyone who is in attendance |
