Show SCS Authorized For Development Program ; j I I A memo was signed which authorizes the USDA Soil Conservation Service (SCS) to furnish assistance to the Upper Sevier Soil Conservation District (SCD) for con-j nervation and resource development work. The Memo was signed by Harold sevy, SCD chairman. He also designated personnel qualified in carrying out resource planning, conservation and development Sevy added that before this assistance is given, the SCD wiU have to adopt an annual work plan and develop a systematic method for group and individual follow up work essential to carrying out the application of con servation and resource development plans for farm, communities, watersheds and other land units. The SCD Board was pleased with the memo of understanding in that this will enable them to work closer with the land owner in making sure that all soil and water is being used within its conservation capacity. Livestock Seminars Livestock production seminars will be held throughout Garfield County on Feb. 7, according to Verl Mathews USU Garfield County agricultural agent. Dr. Bob deBaca from Iowa will discuss genetics and cross breeding programs. He will be at Boulder at 10 a.m., in Escalante at the city building at 2 p.m. and in Panguitch at the courthouse at 7 p.m. Grat Esplin and Clele Bagley, extension veterinarians will discuss livestock health and nutrition. Dr. Bagley will discuss respiratory disease. Everyone is welcome to attend the seminars. |
