Show Sunday, December She Quilted 32 Foot Tapestry "h THE HERALD Jrovo, 11, 1983 1 By RENEE C. NELSON Herald Today Editor Her mother Lillie Walker who lived in Wellsville was a widow for 50 years, and made a living for her 12 children from quilting. Dorothy Hardman, Orem, won't admit that she inherited this skill, but she certainly has created a marvel in the tapestry (quilt) that hangs in the restaurant lounge area of the Hilton Hotel in Odessa, Tex. "It took 440 hours to make," she says, but modestly emphasizes that her youngest daughter Kathie Richmond did about a third of it, and another daughter Debra Fetty and daughter-in-laJoan Hard-ma- n also helped. The tapestry is 32 feet by 36 inches. "They wanted the blue Hilton logo and the white five-poiTexas star in it," she said. Her husband Glenn Hardman does interiors for hotels. "They asked him if anyone could do a tapestry and he volunteered me." Mostly, before, she has done quilts for others, not for herself. She and her son Ken also braided rope to go around two hotel pillars in a ship motif for a Hilton at Nassau Bay. Her husband is now doing the interiors for the Anaheim Hilton in California and finishing up a Hilton in Grand Junction, Colo.
