Shurtleff did not make the Springville frosh squad but started varsity in his sophomore year. Elliot says Shurtleff doesn't experience "big man problems" with knees and feet but will need to develop additional upper-bod- y strength to compete well on the university level. Shurtleff says he will redshirt his first year at CSU to concentrate on weight training, conditioning, and game skills. Shurtleff admires the aggressive playing style of Moses Malone but places his own style closer to Kareem Abdul Jabbar's. He attributes much of his success on the court to coach Jordan, and says the Springville program was "the key" to helping him finally adjust to his height.
