The Greatest Little Romdop In The West By BETTY FOWLER , When that winding, twisting cayuse barrels out of chute four, when that stubborn cowpoke goes skyborne, when the huge crowd simultaneously goes ahhhh, you'll know that you're at the greatest little roundup in the west, the Lehi Roundup Rodeo! t Talk about wild west shows - you ain't seen nothin' until you've seen the great show put on by Cotton Rosser's Flyin' U stock and an aggregation of the best rodeo cowboys ever to gather at a rodeo event. The Lehi Rodeo is fast gaining a reputation as one of the best. The last weekend in June has been reserved for the Lehi Roundup for over 40 years. Fans have never been disappointed in the fast-paced, colorful and exciting rodeo. The spacious arena, good seats, and good-natured rodeo fans all attract folks from all oyer the state of Utah. A fantastic grand entry, usually geared to a patriotic theme, ignites fans to a fevered pitch of anticipation as rodeo participants race into the arena with flags waving in the evening breezes. Beautiful girls, representing rodeo royalty from not only the famous Lehi Roundup Rodeo, but almost every town in Utah, add a glamorous atmosphere to the Round and they are not only pretty, they are skilled riders. They do there share of mustering after each momentous event. The starry skies overhead echo the thrilling narration of the rodeo announcer while clowns ham it up, not only to divert the dangerous bulls but to add that necessary touch of humor to the most ominous situations. What could be more suspenseful than to watch as a courageous cowboy tries to pit his strength against his arch enemy - the two-ton test of snorting beast pawing the dirt in front of him? The huge brahma bull eyes his hated rival with beady eyes. Just as Hell-Whoopin' Hell-Whoopin' Joe lunges towards the wary cowpoke, the rodeo clown waves the red cape and diverts the furious bull from his path of mayhem. Just as sensational are the near misses in bulldogging, the duel between horse and man in bareback riding, and the horsemanship hor-semanship of the girls in the barrel racing contest. Thousands of dollars in prize money awaits the winners of each rodeo event including: saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, calf-roping, bulldogging and other competitions. Don't miss this wonderful show of Americana, the annual Lehi Roundup Rodeo which is sponsored by the Lehi Civic Improvement Association. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 28, 29 and 30, are the dates. Eight o'clock is the time and the Lehi Roundup Arena, 500 West Main Street, is the place.
