Because of the facility's high visibility on the 1-15 freeway, between the 45th South and 53rd South exits (traffic counts are estimated at 150,000 cars per day) and its landmark architecture (three glass towers) a wide-spread curiosity has developed throughout the valley concerning con-cerning this most unique facility. Some have speculated that perhaps it is a private sports mall. But The 49th Street Galleria does not offer tennis, racquetball or swimming and there is no expensive membership fee. Others have suggested that perhaps it is an amusement park. However, admission at the door is free and there are no carnival-type rides. What then is The 49th Street Galleria It is, as advertised, ad-vertised, America's Premier Indoor Entertainment En-tertainment Mall, a completely new and innovative concept in centralized local entertainment. What regional shopping malls, such as Crossroads and the ZCMI Center are to retail shopping, The Galleria is to local entertainment. Conceptually, The 49th Street Galleria is an indoor entertainment mall offering the most popular forms of local entertainment in' an unprecedented environment. Architecturally, Ar-chitecturally, it is much, much more. Stamped concrete streets, old-fashioned street lanterns and park benches, French chateau store fronts, hand crafted vendor carts, beneath towering sky-lights and behind glass towers which admit natural sunlight, contribute to the overall atmosphere at-mosphere of warmth and charm which prevails year round within The Galleria. Stamped concrete streets, complete with curb and gutter, manhole covers and store fronts lead to the various attractions such as Bowling Green, Utah's newest and most elegant bowling center. This facility is strikingly unlike the stereotyped visual image of bowling alleys which most people have experienced for the past quarter century. Bowling Green offers 30 lanes of clean, wholesome, family and league bowling in an uplifting environment of emerald green carpets, brick columns, french shutters and doors, ceiling fans and hand painted, lifesize murals depicting bowling at the turn of the century. Bowling Green is completely AMF equipped including in-cluding Magiscore, the automatic computerized com-puterized scoring system that adds them up and as fast as you can knock them down. RollerTowne U.S.A. is undoubtedly the states largest and most contemporary roller rink. Here, you will be "dancing on skates" to the music and rhythm of live bands, disc jockeys and Xanadu lighting. Party rooms, snack bar and pro shop make this the place to be for parties, groups, novice and pro. Skating lessons are provided. Casey's Dugout is Utah's first indooi public batting cage. Here you can refine your batting skills and enjoy the thrill oi hitting a home run in 10 cages which arc capable of offering both slow and fast pitch softball as well as baseball. A fun added attraction is the radar pitching cage which measures your throwing speed and challenges you to win a free major league batting helmet. The availability of group reservations makes this the natural place for baseball teams to come from throughout the valley. Lafitte's Landing is the setting for Blackbeard's miniature golf and Tale of Two Cities Restaurant. This is the only wing of The Galleria which will not be fully operative until mid-June.
