Farrer has been called by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to serve in the Independence In-dependence Missouri Mission. He will enter the Missionary Training Center on June 7. A farewell service honoring the misionary will be held on May 27, at the Lakeview Stake House, 1850 South 400 West (Sandhill Road), Orem,at9a.m. An open house will be held following the service at the home of the missionary's parents, Jo and Robert C. Farrer, 1000 North 2050 West (Geneva Road) Provo. All friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend. ( sm '.: JAMES KAY STONE James Stone To Serve In Merida Mission James Kay Stone has been called to serve in the Mexico Merida Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will enter the Missionary Training Center on May 31. He will speak at a farewell sacrament service on May 27 at 9 a.m. at the Orem 29th Ward, 1650 South 200 East, Sharon West Stake. An open house will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Stone, 485 East 1960 South. a GUYBAUGH Guy Baugh Called To Georgia Mission Guy Baugh has been called to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Georgia. He will enter the Missionary Training Center on May 31. His farewell will be held Sunday, May 27, at 12:30 p.m. at the Orem 22nd Ward Chapel, 155 West 1600 South. Guy is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Baugh. Visitors are welcome to visit him at their home at 1673 South 270 West, Orem. Guy graduated from Mountain View High School and Seminary in May 1983. KRAIG DAYTON life . : I I KEVIN DAYTON Dayton Brothers To Speak At Sunday Meeting Kraig and Kevin Dayton will each be honored in a sacrament meeting to be held on May 27. Kraig has accepted a mission call to serve in the Ohio Columbus Mission. He will enter the Mission Training Center on May 24 and will be temporarily released from the MTC to give his farewell remarks on May 27 at 9 a.m. Kevin will give his homecoming mission report at the same meeting, on his release from the Wisconsin Milwaukee Mission. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. The meeting house location is 1025 S. 800 East, Orem (Orem 19-38 Ward). Linguistics Professor Receives Lectureship Harold S. Madsen of Orem, newly-appointed chairman of the Department of Linguistics at BYU, has recieved the James L. Barker Lectureship in Language and Linguistics for the 1984-85 school year. The award, sponsored by the College of Humanities, includes a $1,000 honorarium. As recipient, Madsen will deliver the annual Barker Lecture on Language and linguistics during fall semester. Madsen, who has been with the BYU faculty since 1956, will begin his term as chairman of the Linguistics Department June 1. He was director of the English as a Second Language program at BYU for several years, and is past president of the Inter-mountain Inter-mountain Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages. Madsen has traveled and taught in 38 foreign countries and spent four years in Egypt and Ethiopia as a visiting professor and adviser in English language testing at ministries of education. In 1981, he received the Fulbright grant to lecture lec-ture at Bahrain University College in Manama, an island in the Persian Gulf. In 1979, Madsen was awarded the Karl G. Maeser Distinguished Research and Creative Arts Award. He received his master's degree from the University of Utah and his doctoral degree from the University of Colorado. Reese has been called to serve as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Italy Milan Mission. He will speak at a farewell sacrament sacra-ment service on Sunday, May 27, at 1 p.m. at the Orem 23rd Ward, 545 South 800 East. Cole will enter the Missionary Training Center on May 31. Friends are invited to greet him at an open house following the service at the family home at 476 S. 900 E. He is the son of Blair and Gayle Reese and is a graduate of Orem High School. He has completed his freshman year at Brigham Young ' University. SHAWN BANDLEY Shawn Bandley Awarded Eagle Shawn Bandley of Troop 458, Orem, was awarded the Eagle Badge award in ceremonies held Sunday, May 20. Shawn is the son of Walter and Greta Bandley. His Scoutmaster is Roger Lewis. He is in the seventh grade at Lakeridge Junior High School where he is involved in all sports, particularly tennis and baseball. For his Eagle Project, Shawn sponsored a Health and Safety Fair for his ward Primary . Shawn has served as senior patrol leader, attended Timberline and earned the Amos Alonzo Stagg medal for completing a 50-mile hike. He also received the Kiwanis Club "Hope of America" award and earned ear-ned his "Arrow of Light" and "On My Honor" awards. I 0 JEREMY RAY HOLT ' " ' S I - f -i . ' f . I L l ' h LYNN ADAMS Jeremy Holt Earns Eagle Jeremy Ray Holt, the sone of Ray and Jeana Holt, received his Eagle Badge award on Sunday, May 20. For his Eagle Project, Jeremy painted city fire hydrants with permission per-mission of Orem Fire Department and enlisted help from other members of his troop. Jeremy is a teacher in the Orem 58th Ward. He is a member of Troop 458. While in Scouting he earned all the skill awards, 24 merit badges and the "On My Honor" Award. He served serv-ed as patrol leader, scribe and quartermaster under the direction of Roger Lewis. At present Jeremy is attending Lakeridge Junior High School where he wrestled for the school this past year. He also enjoys camping, fishing, hunting, reading and building and launching rockets. Lynn Adams Homecoming Sunday At 9 Lynn Adams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Adams, will report his mission experiences from the New York New York Mission on Sunday, May 27 at 9 a.m. in the Orem 11th Ward, 440 East 800South,Orem.
