The ejection of a player wasn't enough to make the Park City Blizzard lose their season opener Sept, 10 at the Treasure Mountain Middle School. Park City's men's senior soccer team lost a player almost immediately in their Major-Division Major-Division contest against Alianza, of Salt Lake City. Blizzard forward Mark Brostram played long enough to clang a goal post with a blistering shot from the left side, then was ejected by the officials for disputing a call. Although they trailed 1-0 at that point, the Blizzard outscored Alianza 3-0 while playing a man short for the rest of the contest With 20 minutes gone in the first half, Park City's Kevin Howard drilled a penalty kick into a corner of the net to tie the score atone. Five minutes later, forward Dieter Brock jarred the ball free from the grasp of the Alianza goalie. It bounced to Marcus Hegland, who headed it into the net from 10 yards out. Forward Todd Schlopy completed the scoring for Park City in the second half. Schlopy dribbled past a defender near the sidelines, then crossed over to the center of the field. From 20 yards out, he drilled a shot with his left foot, to the lower right corner (from his view) of the net. The Blizzard was promoted from Salt Lake's First Division to the Major Division midway through a successful season last spring. Park City still fields a team-the team-the Storm- in the First Division. 7 . '.L ' ill i 7 v. "f 3 I I i ' I 'T w. III II 1 LJ On August 16 at the Treasure A Dl. . . ..... ...
