Thursday, Before you dig, call for Blue Stakes A Utah community of 5,000 was isolated from the telephone network when a local resident innocently dug a fence post hole in their backyard and cut an underground cable. According to Todd West, manager of Blue Stakes, this scenario reinforces the need for people digging in their yards to be just as sensitive to underground services as contractors need to be. Blue Stakes is the one-call system that coordinates the location of buried facilities in the state. Buried facilities include water, sewer, cable TV, power, natural gas, telephone and hazardous material lines, to name a few. "Damaging these underground utilities can be dangerous, expensive and inconvenient for those involved as MASSAGE, cont Summit Sports Medicine Physical Therapy 649-3913 1260 Ironhorse Drive Kathleen Fltzpatrlck, LMT Pamela Green, LMT Annie Seymour, LMT MEDICAL DOCTORS Park City Family Health and Emergency Center 649-7640 Adult and Pediatric Medical Care, Medical Emergencies, Trauma and Family Planning. That is why Utah law requires that the Center be called before any digging begins," said West. The Center receives over 8,500 location requests a month and is funded by its participating members. The goals of the Center are safety and damage prevention and with the help of excavators and homeowners Blue Stakes can realize these goals. Remember to call at least two working days before you dig.
