This fall she will attend Utah Valley Val-ley State College majoring in business. Valerie has led the Duchesne Talons drill team to four consecutive region and state championships. She currently cur-rently holds the title of 1-A Drill Down Champion for the past four years. She is involved with cheerleading, Softball, . and track. Valerie has been dancing for 13 years and loves every minute of it. Jessica Paul - General Jessica Kelly Paul, daughter of Don and Jill Hansen and Curtis and Denise Paul, has been chosen to represent Duchesne High School as the General Sterling Scholar. Her GPA is 3.978 and she is ranked third in her class. She has participated in many extracurricular extracurricu-lar activities over the years including: a four-time state championship drill team, track, cross country, Future Business Busi-ness leaders of America, drama, speech, and piano competitions. Jessica is also a member of a state championship Academic Aca-demic Decathlon team,- she was named team scholar this year. Jessica had the lead role of Laurey in her high school's musical production of Oklahoma! She is also the secretary of the senior class. Jessica has been involved in many church service projects and has served on two committees to plan regional activities and conferences. Jessica has been a member of the National Honor Society for three years; she participated in the Caring In Action food drive last fall. She attends Utah State University as a concurrently enrolled student and has taken several math classes. She plans on attending Brigham Young University Uni-versity in the fall and working toward a degree in chemical engineering. Jessica enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, and running. Lori Taylor - Speech and Drama Lori Renae Taylor, daughter of Guy and Janice Taylor, has been selected to be the Duchesne High School Speech and Drama Sterling Scholar. Lori is currently ranked fifth in her class. She has been a member of the drama team at Duchesne high School for four years and has participated in school plays for three years. She was state champion for public speaking for Future Business Leaders of America in 2005 and has been a member of FBLA for three years. Lori has also served as the vice president presi-dent for Duchesne High School FBLA for the last two years. She currently serves as senior class president and LDS Duchesne 4th Ward Laurel Class President. She was activities coordinator coordina-tor for the Drill Team and a member of the four-time state championship team and participated on the Cheer Squad for two years, serving as co-captain for one year. She has participated in the 4-H program since she was 5-years-old. During the summer of 2006, Lori participated in both Utah Girls' State and Utah Business Week. She recently returned from the Washington D.C. Close-Up program. She loves to be involved in the school and community, and enjoys boating and dancing. Lori hopes to go to Snow College and on to the University of Utah, majoring in biology with a minor in business to eventually be a physical therapist. Shayne Wilkerson - Trade and Technical Education Shayne Wilkerson, son of Mike and Judy Wilkerson, has been chosen to represent Duchesne High School as the Trade and Technical Education Sterling Scholar. He has participated in football, wrestling, and track all four years. He is currently a member of the Future Business Leaders of America. Shayne is a licensed apprentice electrician and works for Wilkerson Electric. He plans to go to college to gain a journeyman license. Continued from page 28 Altamont High School Sterling Scholars spending time with her family and going go-ing on long horseback rides. She has a great love for numbers and some day would like to become an accountant and raise a family. Erik R. Carlson - Social Science Erik Carlson, son of Arne Carlson and Cindy Carlson, has been selected to be the Social Science Sterling Scholar for Altamont High School. He lives in Bluebell and has a GPA of 3.6. He is the vice president of social events for the Student Council. Erik is very involved in sports. He has competed in football for four years, basketball for four years, run track for three years, and started baseball this year. He is in Future Business Leaders of America and was the treasurer last year and is now the vice president. Erik is an Eagle Scout and likes to go skiing. His future plans are to go on an LDS mission. After Af-ter that Erik plans to go to college and hopefully basketball for that school. Amnion Dunsmore - Trade and Technology Ammon Dunsmore, son of Wallace and Judy Dunsmore. has been selected to be the Trade and Technology Sterling Scholar for Altamont High School. He lives in Arcadia and has a 3.5 GPA. Ammon likes sports. He participated in four years of football and one year of wrestling where his team took state. He is an Eagle Scout and he likes to snowmobiling and snowboarding. He plans on going on a LDS mission and go to college and get a doctorate degree. Bryce Fisher - Visual Arts Bryce Fisher, son of Cash and Judee Fisher, has been selected to represent Altamont High School as the Visual Arts Sterling Scholar. His GPA is a 3.9 and he is ranked third in his class. He is currently working on his associate degree at Utah State University and is on schedule to receive it at his high school graduation. He played football and wrestled this year. He was a part of the 2007 wrestling state championship champion-ship team at Altamont High School and also took state individually at 152 pounds. Bryce has also just received his Eagle Scout award. Last summer Bryce was selected to represent the United States on the 2006 Wrestling Cultural Exchange to Beijing, China. Bryce has a great interest in mathematics and engineering. He hopes to become a high school math teacher with a double major in biological engineering. As a math teacher he hopes to also become a high school head wrestling coach. Jesse Jessup - Speech and Drama Jesse Jessup, son of David and Kathie Jessup, has been selected to represent Altamont High School as the Speech and Drama Sterling Scholar. He has kept a GPA of 3.89. He is currently working on his associate degree from Utah State University Uintah Basin. -He has played basketball and football for four years and ran track for three, and was the football team captain for the 2006-07 season. He has participated partici-pated in FCCLA. Jesse was the 2006 FBLA historian. He has completed the scouting program and earned the Eagle Scout award. Jesse plans on attending Utah State University where he is going go-ing to get a degree in businesshuman relations to use his great people skills to work with others. CJ Kettle - Music Clinton James Kettle, son of Craig and Tammy Kettle, has been elected to represent Altamont High School as the Music Sterling Scholar. He maintains a 3.907 high school GPA, as well as a 3.43 college GPA, and he is ranked fourth in his class. He has been a member of the school audio visual crew for four years, and has participated in Speech and Drama for four years also. He has also been active in the FBLA chapter for two years. He is currently serving as co-crew chief of the AV Crew and is the FBLA parliamentarian. CJ is on the National Honor Society as well as his school's Honor Society. He attends Utah State University Uintah Uin-tah Basin as a concurrent enrollment student, and will receive his associate degree in August. CJ attended the 2006 Utah Rural Electric Association Conference. Confer-ence. CJ is very interested in business and engineering and would one day like to own his own business. JaiCee Oman - English JaiCee Oman, daughter of Randy and Meri Lee Oman, has been selected to represent Altamont High School as the English Sterling Scholar She maintains a GPA of 3.997. She has participated in volleyball, basketball, and softball for four years, and was volleyball and basketball bas-ketball team captain for the 2006-07 season. She has also been a member of FCCLA for four years, and in the presidency presi-dency for three years. She was junior class vice president and is currently the co-editor of the high school newspaper. She is the salutatorian for the Class of 2007. After graduating from high school, she plans on attending Snow College and getting a degree in business. busi-ness. Keesha Sorensen - General Keesha Sorensen, daughter of Darryl and Ellen Sorensen, has been selected to represent Altamont High School as the General Sterling Scholar. She maintains main-tains a GPA of 4.0. She has participated participat-ed in volleyball, basketball, and softball for four years, and was volleyball and basketball team captain for the 2006-07 2006-07 season. Jason Wood - Science Jason Alan Wood, son of Jack and Sue Wood, has been selected to represent rep-resent Altamont High School as the Science Sterling Scholar His GPA is a 3.908, and he is ranked fourth in his class. He has been a class president for the eighth and tenth grade and is currently cur-rently student body publicity vice-president. Jason has been on the high honor roll for the last four years and is in the National Honor Society. He has also been recognized as the top chemistry student of the year for Altamont High School. Some of his personal interests are snowboarding, jet skiing, and cars. He attends the Utah State University Uintah Basin as a concurrent enrollment enroll-ment student and is maintaining a 3.5 GPA with a total of 24 credit hours.
