Winning is an expectation in Reary's classes. However, Reary said the motivation isn't showing show-ing off, but having his students land scholar- ships that will allow them to continue their woodworking education in college. "I think my main accomplishment is having students who have so much excitement and interest in what we're doing in class that they decide this is something they want to do permanently," per-manently," he said. "It's neat to see students progress to the point that by the end of their fourth year, they have shops in their homes, they own their own tools, and some of them even have little side businesses. Cabinetry becomes something that they'll have for the rest of their life, and they'll always remember that they got that here." Arnold agrees the UBATC cabinet-making cabinet-making classes can be a lot of work, but says he stuck with the program because he gained a love for woodworking. "I'm here at the shop eight hours a day, all day," Arnold said. "I come in after af-ter school and every minute that I can. It's my home away from home. It's all worth it when you have the chance to create something from nothing. When you have your finished project, you know it's something that will be there for the rest of your life."
