Show Eating for two In their first trimester, pregnant women are especially liable to suffer from nausea and vomiting, among other 'morning sicknesses.' The American Dietetic Association Associa-tion has the following suggestions to help cope with the discomfort: Eat frequent, small meals; eat easy-to-digest carbohydrates, like plain pasta, crackers, potatoes, fruit and vegetables; avoid spicy foods; limit fried foods and foods with a lot of butter, eat crackers, dry cereal or dry toast in the morning to start the digestive process; get up slowly; drink beverages between rather than with meals and try taking any prenatal vitamins at bedtime, rather than in the morning when nausea may be the most bothersome. |
