Show I Short story writing is team effort , "The kids were excited. It was a great learning experience between the tenth graders at Viewmont and the second and third graders because of the communication skills that we learned," said Cecile Peterson, second grade teacher at Tolman. Short-story writing at Viewmont High School became a little more fun this year. English students at Viewmont teamed up with second and third grade students at Tolman Elementary to create Halloween short stories. The activity began the fust part of October under the direction of Viewmont English teacher, Jill Barlow. Viewmont students first wrote letters to a particular child at , Tolman asking for input for their short stories. After stories were written, they were sent to Tolman for the students to illustrate. During the week of Halloween, Viewmont students met in person the child with whom they had been sharing ideas. Together they separated into groups to read their short stories. Afterward they shared some time together at recess on the playground. |
