Regardless of how high gasoline prices get, we will still find a way to "drive" our cares away in our cars. Through the years a variety of cars have captured the imagination of drivers, movie producers and song writers. "The Great Race," "Tucker," "409" and "Little Deuce Coupe," are just a few of the entertainment industry's contribution contribu-tion to furthering the mystic of automobiles. The Ford Thunderbird was the 4 car-of-choice" after it was glorified in the Beach Boys song, "She had fun, fun, fun, till her Daddy took her T-Bird away." The car was once again sought after when Suzanne Summers starred as the elusive blonde driving the white Thunderbird in the movie "American Graffiti." Sports cars have always been the s choice of teens. No self-respecting teen would be caught dead driving their mom's station wagon with wood paneling on the side. Although not everyone is lucky enough to own it, every American has a dream car, that special "set of wheels" that will transport them from the mundane to the sublime. We asked our readers to tell us about their dream car, the make and the color. We also asked if they purchased their current automobile in Davis County. For Helen Porter the choice was easy. "A Lincoln Continental is my dream car," she said. Helen said she has always loved the Lincoln design. "I don't want to pay for the poor gas mileage," she said jokingly, joking-ly, "but I would love to own one." Helen said the color of her dream car would be ' 'navy blue and beige. "Helen explained her husband hus-band has a car provided by his work, therefore they don't have a choice of whether or not it is purchased pur-chased in Davis County. "Anything new" would be a dream for Jean Crowther. "I've never had a new car in my life. I really don't know what model I want. I just want it to be new," she said. Jean said she once re membered riding in a new Subaru "and that was very nice," she said. The Crowther's buy all of their used cars in Davis County. Jean said her dream car would be "red" For Harold Warren there is only one requiiement to make his dream car a dream. "I want a car that will run," he said, and emphasized it would not be a "foreign" car. "I'd like a new Ford," said Harold. "I don't care what model it is, but I would like it to be red," he said. Harold said he purchased his last new car in Davis County. "A red Ferrari Testarosa," said Jill Sorenson without hesitation. "It's nice looking and I would love a small sports car," she added. Jill said although she doesn't own a car right now, the Ferrari would be her dream automobile. She plans to buy a used car from a friend in Bountiful Boun-tiful in the near future. For Rebecca Craven the dream auto would be a "Dark green or maroon Jaguar. They are very nice looking," she said. Rebecca does not have a car now, but when she buys one it will most likely be a Ford Escort or Tempo, or REBECCA CRAVEN A dark green Jaguar." a Toyota or Nissan. She is sure she would buy her car in Davis County. "My dream car would be one that is paid for," laughed Mike Parsons. Par-sons. He added that if he didn't have to pay for it, his dream car would be a "white BMW 750 I." Mike said he bought his last car before he moved to Davis County so it was not purchased here. |
