Show Council is seeking some volunteers The Davis County PATCH Council is seeking volunteers to assist in the implementation of project pro-ject LEAN, a preventive program aimed at reducing the intake of dietary fat Project LEAN is a national campaign cam-paign instigated by the Henry J. Kaiser Foundation. Davis County was one of 10 sites awarded funding from the Kaiser Foundation for the purpose of conducting con-ducting communitywide nutrition interventions. Over the past year, the PATCH Council has worked closely with Winegar's Warehouse Foods to promote an ongoing consumer awareness program that encourages healthier food selections. She If -markers, in -store demonstrations demon-strations and the labeling of low-fat food products in weekly ads are but some of the activities that have been conducted in recent months. In addition, Project LEAN has targeted elementary age children and school food service workers in its efforts to reinforce healthier food choices in the school environment Working in conjunction with Davis County School Foods Service, Ser-vice, the PATCH Council has developed de-veloped and pilot-tested a curriculum cur-riculum on low-fat eating skills that will be incorporated into fifth grade classrooms in the coming year.
