Show Haacke celebrates 85th r- & - - & - r J - , - -. 1 -!- -i i ; ,y ' . :, - ' - i-. . I - I Helen Brough Haacke celebrated her 85th birthday Aug. 21. She was bom in 1905 in Tremonton, a daughter of George Albert and Edith Anderson Brough. Her early schooling was in East Tremonton, where she attended Bear River High for two years before moving with her family to Salt Lake City. She graduated from Granite High and the LDS Seminary Sem-inary in 1924. She worked as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell for two and a half years. She met Leslie Carl Haacke after he had returned from his mission to Germany; and, after a whirlwind courtship, they were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple March 16, 1927. They made their home in Bountiful. They had been married for 62 years when he died May 8, 1989. HELEN BROUGH HAACKE all of Bountiful and Helen and Howard Vanfleet of Provo. She is grandmother of 27 and great-grandmother great-grandmother of 36. She has one sister, Ethel Herbert, of Bountiful. Helen has lived in the Bountiful First Ward most of her life. She has held many church positions, including in-cluding Primary counselor. Relief Society counselor and president, MIA counselor, and Primary and Sunday School teacher. She was active in the Ann Robert Dust in DUP Camp and has done much research and genealogical work for the First Ward and also for her family. She has made 'This is Your Life books for her grandchildren. grand-children. She also makes many beautiful crochet pieces and has completed many quilts in her lifetime. She is the mother of four children and their spouses, Dale and Shirley Haacke, Colleen and Cal Chris-tensen, Chris-tensen, Cornell and Joyce Haacke, |
