Show ' r Clipper launches new 'weekend edition ' of newspaper The Davis County Clipper is launching a new publication. Its new 'weekend edition' will debut Sept. 15. "We are very excited about this expansion, ' ' said publisher Gail Stahle. "We will now be able to provide our customers with expanded coverage of more up-to-date news." "We've recognized for some time a need to provide our readers with more current news, and now we will be able to do so," said Stahle. He added that a large number of Davis County residents rely on the Clipper as their only source of news and advertising; therefore, it is important that the publication provide up-to-date news of local events. "We view this as just the first step in expanding our news, sports and advertising coverage for our growing Davis County readership," said Stahle. "This change is one that will better serve our customers and our advertisers," said editor Judy Jensen. "As writers, one of the most frustrating things we have to face is having news that we can't let the public know about for several days. Now the editorial staff will be able to include news of events that in the past were judged to be 'old news by the time the paper was published," she said. Jensen added that the twice-a-week classified section will accommodate ac-commodate customers who would like to advertise on the weekend, but are not at home on weekdays. "The greatest thing about the change," said Jensen, "is that we will be better able to help the brides and missionaries who have forgotten the newspaper announcement an-nouncement until the last minute. We have hated to disappoint them. Now we'll have two deadlines, and hopefully either they or their moms will remember one of them," she said. Another big advantage of the r new Saturday edition, according to ' Advertising Director John Rogers, ; is the ability to serve advertisers who need weekend ads. "We can r" now give our automobile dealerships, dealer-ships, and all of our valuable advertisers adver-tisers the additional service they . have needed, and we have wanted to offer," he said.
