Show Sheriff places signs on property illegally Dear Editor How does the Sheriff of Davis County get away with flagrantly disregarding the law by placing his campaign signs on state, city and private property illegally and without permission? He was personally observed, along with Chief Deputy Bud Cox, Lt. Curtis Johnson and an unknown person, putting up his campaign signs on Aug. 10, at 4:45 p.m. What I would like to know is, were they on or off duty? Who is paying their salaries? Are the taxpayers paying them to campaign on county time? Sheriff Jones has at least 12 illegally il-legally placed signs from Woods Cross to Sunset in violation of federal, fed-eral, state and city ordinances. Is the sheriff, the highest law enforcement official in the county, above the law? Another point of interest is that his signs say "re-elect Jones." How can we re-elect someone who has never been elected by the people? peo-ple? Bob Lundquist Layton |
