Show Cantaloupe Day to be recreated ticipants including a $1,000 scholarship schol-arship for the queen, $500 for the first attendant and $300 for the second se-cond attendant. In addition to the scholarship, the queen will reign over the year-long centennial celebration of Bountiful. m Individuals interested in competing com-peting may obtain information from Bountiful area high schools, local merchants or by calling the Bountiful Boun-tiful Jaycees at 295-6979. The deadline for entries is Feb. 1. 1992. The Bountiful Jaycees will recreate its Cantaloupe Day next September in commemoration of the city's 100th birthday. The celebration and festivities honor Davis Counties once principal prin-cipal crop-cantaloupes. The September activities include a parade, carnival, crafts and entertainment enter-tainment booths. While most of the activities are slated for September, the Jaycees will begin the celebration on March 28 at Bountiful High School, where area girls aged 17 to 20 will compete com-pete to become the Miss Centennial Cantaloupe Queen. The pageant is open to any Bountiful Boun-tiful area resident who will compete in four areas interview, talent, swim suit and evening gown. Prior to the contest, participants will receive coaching on subjects ranging from hair care to interview techniques in preparation for the event. There will be gifts for all par- |
