Show UP&L initiates new program Utah Power and Light Co., Monday disclosed a vast new expansion program calling for expenditure of $223 million dollars dol-lars throughout its service area In Utah, southeast Idaho and parts of Wyoming and Colorado Colo-rado curing the next five years. The announcement was made by UP&L's newly-elected president presi-dent E. Allan Hunter who pointed out that such expansion calls for investment at an average av-erage of $3 million each month over the next 60 months. Mr. Hunter said the new facilities fa-cilities to be completed or under un-der construction during the next five years would include a minimum of 660,000 kilowatts of new generating capacity. That's enough energy to supply the needs of a city of about 3 -million people. The rest of the new facilities will include transmission and distribution lines, substations and other equipment through- out the utility's service area. They will provide service for new customers, for increased electrical demand of present customers and delivery of the same high quality service we have been delivering to our customers, Mr. Hunter said. The electric utility executive said this year the initial year of the five year program UP&L directors have approved ap-proved expenditure of $26 million mil-lion for new and improved electrical elec-trical facilities throughout the four-state area. The company today serve 282,000 customers. |
