Evans paid respects at funeral rites Funeral services for Lorus Merrell Evans, 63, of 135 South 100 East, were held Monday in the Second-Eighth Ward Chapel under the direction of Bishop William Ruff of the Eighth Ward. Burial was in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery. Ceme-tery. Mr. Evans, a retired railroad man, died February 12, 1969 at his home of a heart attack. He was born March 27, 1905, in Benjamin, a son of Charles and Fanny Manwlll Argyle Evans. Ev-ans. He married Ida Richardson and was later divorced. He married Lucy Mitchell on June 28, 1954 in Evanson, Wyoming and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Evans was an elder in the LDS Church and was active as a temple worker and home teacher. He was a conductor on the railroad at the Geneva Works of U.S. Steel for many years, retiring in 1964. He was a member of the Senior Citizens in Springville and his hobbies were carpentry and gardening. Surviving are his widow of Springville; a son and two daughters, Clyde Evans of Cop-perton, Cop-perton, Utah; Mrs. Max (Madge) Campbell of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Jerry (Maxine) Vo-gel Vo-gel of Sacramento, California; a stepson and two stepdaughters, stepdaugh-ters, Warren Holfeltz of St. Louis; Mrs. Roy Cark (Lula Jean) Thomas of Lemoore, California; Cal-ifornia; and Mrs. William J. (George Ann) Ludlow of Las Vegas, Nevada; 22 grandchildren; grandchild-ren; two brothers and three sisters, Kenneth LaMar Evans of American Fork; Argyle (Ike) Evans, Mrs. Phil (Leona) DeLaMare, and Mrs. Jack (Myrtle) Talyor, all of Provo; and Mrs. Lave (Nellie) Bertel-sen Bertel-sen of Springville. |
