Show Legion Auxiliary names officers Lela Nelson was elected president of the American Legion Le-gion Auxiliary, at the June meeting Wednesday evening of last week, at Memorial Hall. She succeeds Gladys Pennington, Penning-ton, who has served two years. Mrs. Nelson was a charter member of the Springville Auxiliary Aux-iliary to Post 28, American Legion, joining 39 years ago and assisting with the first organization or-ganization here. She also served serv-ed as the first president. This will be her second term. Mrs. Nelson spoke briefly urging increased attendance and support from the auxiliary membership. Elected as her first vice president is Beth Coffman, with Lucy R. Johnson, second vice president; Hazel Roylance, appointed ap-pointed secretary; Floss Phillips, Phil-lips, elected treasurer; Edith Miner, chaplain; Helen Cran-dall, Cran-dall, historian; Melva Smith and Inez Chader, sergeant-at-arms. M a r v a Davis, nominating chairman was installing officer. Mrs. Pennington read several reports including that of historian his-torian and the financial report. She also read a letter thanking the auxiliary for a contribution to the State Training School at American Fork. Serving lunch at the close of the meeting were hostesses, Lucy R. Johnson, Rebecca Fullmer and Julia Sumsion. In hospital Mrs. David Nusirik is in the Utah Valley Hospital recuperating recuper-ating from major eye surgery. The Nusinks make their home at Spring Glen. Instanbul is the only city in the world which straddles two continents. |
