Show UFWC official attends meet in San Francisco Mrs. Wendel Winger, first vice president of UFWC, has just returned from attending the general federation convention conven-tion in San Francisco, one of 19 delegates from Utah. The convention was highlighted high-lighted by the appearance and talks by movie and TV personalities person-alities including Art Linkletter, Desi Arnez, Anita Bryant, and also by Marilyn Vanderbur, former Miss America, now a TV star who gave the keynote address emphasizing the theme, "Build with Youth for a Better Bet-ter America." The convention delegates enjoyed en-joyed a preview of the movie made from the book, "Up the Down Stair Case," and songs by Polly Bergen. Mrs. Winger also visited her sister, Mrs, Jay Colver (Carol Jacobsen) and husband and three children at Walnut Creek. A number of Springville Lions Li-ons and Lady Lions were in Heber City over the weekend to attend the state convention, including President Elect and Mrs. Frank Taylor, Marvin Warren, Leo Cutler, Leland Mc-Kenzie, Mc-Kenzie, Jerry Sermersheim, Carl Curtis, Charles Porter, Shirl Poulsen and their wives. Election of district officers featured fea-tured events on the 3-day program. pro-gram. Results of the Orem swim meet June 13 follows with those Seal swimmers who placed pla-ced first: Boys, 9-10, freestyle, David Thomas; girls 11-12, 50 yard free, Norma Richins; boys 13-17, 100 yard free, David Lynn; girls 11-12, butterfly, Norma Richins; boys, 9-10,. 25 vard breaststroke, Bryan Pen- dleton; boys 11-12 breaststroke, Bradley Pendleton; boys 13-17, 50 yard breatststroke David Lynn. The seals took first and second in the relays. |
