Show Springville man in AG group winning award Captin Verl K. Diamond, son of Mr .and Mrs. Lewis B. Diamond Dia-mond of 184 West Four North, Springville, is a member of the 62nd Military Airlift Wing at; McCord AFB, Wash., that has! been awarded the coveted U.S. Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. Captain Diamond, a C-141 Starlifter pilot, will wear a distinctive dis-tinctive blue ribbon decoration to identify his affiliation with the Military Airlift Command organization. Thp wino" waa fit(ifl fnr its support of operations in Southeast South-east Asia and the romote sites of the Alaskan Command. Its airlift services include an extremely ex-tremely successful operation in Alaska, swift transit of Army infantry advance units to Southeast Asia and the achievement achieve-ment of the greatest number of flying hours ever recorded in a one-year period during the wing's 26-year history. The captain, a graduate of Springville High School, received receiv-ed his B. S. degree from Utah State University and was commissioned com-missioned there in 1961 upon completion of the Air Force Reserve Officers Training Corps program. He is a member mem-ber of the Alpha Gamma Rho. His wife, Joan, is the daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Henderson Hen-derson of 164 S. Third E., Rex-burg, Rex-burg, Idaho.
