Show Old-time songs heard at meeting The final meeting of the year for members of the Springville Spring-ville Federated Club was held Friday evening at the home of Mrs. Alma Whiting at Maple- ' ton. Yvonne Johnson, president, was in charge. Betty Sumsion read the club collect. The program was presented by Mary Maycock on old-fashioned music compositions, those which were called rag-time songs. She discussed the type of music and told of the lives of some of the composers, Ernest Er-nest R. Ball, James Walker, Irving Berlin and others. Assisting with the program were Annie Forshee and Carol Clark, who gave vocal numbers, num-bers, accompanied by Mrs. Maurice Bird; Eileen Bird played violin selctions and Jean Biesinger vocal numbers, accompanied ac-companied by Betty Sumsion. The echo type songs were listed list-ed and the group joined in demonstrating that type of singing. Henrietta Nelson and Irma Brailsford entertained with vocal vo-cal duets of old-time songs and Mrs. Maurice Bird played piano pi-ano numbers. A delightful part of the program pro-gram was given by Jessie Dal-ton Dal-ton who entertained with a musical mu-sical reading in costume, accompanied ac-companied by Yvonne Johnson. The hostess served refreshments refresh-ments at the close of the meeting meet-ing to 24 members and guests. |
