Show Ten big horn sheep trapped An additional ten Rocky Mountain big horn sheep trapped trap-ped in Canada have been released re-leased in the Department of Fish and Game paddock near Brigham City to make a total of 34 animals released since the first sheep came from Wyoming. Wy-oming. There are 24 females and 10 males of various ages now being be-ing held as parent stock in the enclosure and all animals appear ap-pear to be adjusting well to their new home in Utah. Construction of an enlarged enclosure will soon get under way as soon as consruction contracts have been completed. This should be done early in the week of May 9. Most materials ma-terials necessary for the fence were hauled to the site near Brigham City earlier by the Department of Fish and Game and the rest will be delivered by the time actual construction construc-tion begins. When this new enclosure is completed, the sheep will have both summer and winter range areas within the fence with plenty of room for the parent stock and their offspring. Some lambs are expected from the animals now being held beginning begin-ning late May or early June. A restocking program will begin as soon as numbers increase in-crease enough to reasonably assure success. This should be within the next year or two. |
