Show Son of former residents has post in research division at Pentagon Lt. Col. Robert E. Whiting will leave in July for a special spec-ial assimgnment in England. Lieutenant Colonel Robert E. Whiting, son of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Whiting of 2301 Oddie Blvd., Reno, Nev., formerly of Springville, has been selected for a special U.S. Air Force assignment in England. Colonel Whiting is scheduled to enter the Royal Air Force College of Air Warfare at Man-by, Man-by, England, in July. Upon completion of the college, he will serve as senior USAF representative rep-resentative to the Joint Warfare War-fare Establishment at Old Sar-um Sar-um RAF Station. The colonel is presently a research re-search and development director direc-tor at USAF headquarters in the Pentagon. He previously was assigned at the Air Proving Ground Center at Elgin AFB, Fla. The 38-year-old officer has served as a B-52 combat crew instructor instruc-tor navigator in addition to flying Strategic Air Command B-47 and B-50 bombers during his 17-year military career. Colonel Whiting, grandson of Mrs. John L. Whiting (Minet-ta), (Minet-ta), of 248 E. Third South, Springv i 1 1 e, was graduated from Sparks (Nev.) High School. He received his B. S.I degree and was commissioned upon graduation from the U. S. Military Academy. He has an M. E. A.' degree from George Washington University and is a graduate of the Air Command and Staff College, Maxwell AFB, Ala. The colonel's wife, Marion, is the daughter of Colonel and Mrs. J. P. Persona Jr. of 1155 Citadel Drive, Atlanta. |
