Roberts, businessman business-man and church leader, has filed his declaration of candidacy candi-dacy to seek the Republican nomination for Utah County Commission two year term. Since 1955, he has been owner own-er of Roberts Ice and Storage Co. American Fork, which he established as a partnership in 1947. Prior to this time, he was associated with the Utah Power & Light Co. 18 years. He went to American Fork in 1942 as a maintenance foreman, fore-man, in charge of lines and services with the utility company. com-pany. Mr. Roberts has been a delegate dele-gate to the Republican State Convention, has served as a District Chairman and has been an active member of the Republican party. This is his first bid for public office. He was born Sept. 14, 1909, and is a native of the Uintah Basin Area, where his father Stanley D. Roberts of American Ameri-can Fork, candidate for 2-year 2-year county commissioner on the Republican ticket. was a pioneer in homesteading. The family moved to Carbon County in 1922. He attended the University of Utah and is a graduate of National Electric, of Los Angeles. An-geles. He is presently serving as president of the American Fork Stake and was a counselor in the Alpine Stake presidency eight years. He also served as bishop of the American Fork Second Ward An experienced youth leader, he has directed church and community sports programs. He is a member of the Utah Valley Hospital Board. He and his wife, the former Madge Munk of Sanpete County, Coun-ty, are parents of eight sons and daughters and have eight grandchildren. They are rearing rear-ing a foster son under the Indian In-dian Placement Program of the LDS Church. |
