Gubler, who had been rocked by Cougar bats in game two, was most impressive, spreading six hits, though still getting tagged for the loss. Doty, on the other hand, allowed just five hits a and only Cowart's homer spoiled the shutout. The outstanding Cougar struck out eight and walked just one in his complete-game victory. The T-Birds enter their four-game weekend series in Grand Junction, Colo, with Mesa at 1-5, but all six games have been played against NCAA competition. |
