Show Housing authority Hearing scheduled several meetings had been held recently and that the proposed study, would look into the costs and advantages of a metro police agency. Townsend said that he felt the move would be a good step towards a more efficient police department depart-ment for the city. Among other things, he noted that such would provide for better police coverage ; more specialized services, such as a detective bureau, a laboratory and a juvenile bureau; and fewer city administration problems. The council also approved ap-proved the installation of a new sprinkling system at the city cemetery. Woodrow Decker told the council members that he had collected several quotes on the cost of materials, ranging from $3,500 to $4,000. Mayor Jim Robinson pointed out that there was $19,000 in the cemetery perpetual care money, and that the expenditure would, therefore, not come from the general account. A resolution providing for a hearing to determine deter-mine the need for a housing authority was approved March 4 by the Parowan City Council. The hearing will be April 1 at 7 p.m. at the Parowan City Office, 5 S. Main Street. The call for the hearing came after Kym An-., derson, Utah Department of Economic Development, Develop-ment, and Marie Orton told the council that now was the time to start thinking about the establishment of a housing authority so as to be prepared for some of the impact that may be hitting Parowan in the near future. Orton explained that there was a great need in the community for such a housing authority so as to direct efforts towards obtaining some low income in-come housing for senior citizens. She described the low income housing project in Beaver which has some excellent facilities for the elderly and which was built by Beaver City with federal grant money. The council that evening also approved the inclusion of Parowan City in a study of the proposed county-wide Metro police force. Detective Gordon Adams, Iron County Sheriff's Department, and Chief Wayne Townsend, Parowan City Police Department, urged the council to consider such a move because of the advantages ad-vantages in such a system over the current county and city forces.
