Show Professor cited Virginia K. Stitt, assistant professor of music at Southern Utah State College, has been appointed the 1981-82 Utah chairwoman for the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Per-cussion Instructors. Dr. Stitt joined the SUSC faculty in 1977 as an instructor of woodwinds and music theory. In addition to her teaching responsibilities she is a member of the Cedar City Music Arts Committee and a four-year veteran of the Utah Shakespearean Shakes-pearean Festival Recorder Consort. While at SUSC Dr. Stitt has played for five musicals and two operas and has appeared in numerous faculty recitals. She has judged several music contests including band cavalcades, the Central Utah Region Sterling Scholar Competition, and national woodwind finals held in conjunction with last year's convention of the Music Teachers National Association. Dr. Stitt is a member of the International Double Reed Society, the American Recorder Society, Music Educators' National Conference ,and the American Federation of Musicians. She is a member of several honorary and service organizations in music and education. |
