Show 3 SUSC records fall at opening track meet i The Southern Utah ! Nevada-Las Vegas, the j Thunderbirds will also be going against Idaho State .University from the Big Sky Conference. Following that competition, com-petition, the 'Birds will I swing right back into action the following .Saturday at the BYU ; Invitational. i "There's no question Ithat Idaho State will be 'the favorite in that meet," SUSC coach Boyd Adams says. "The thing we want to do is to beat out UNLV for second.' . i With good performances, we can do that, even though we will be competing com-peting in Las Vegas." Last week, three SUSC school records were broken in an unscored four-way meet at Las Vegas. Competing were SUSC, University of Utah, UNLV and Cal Poly-Pomona. Keenan Hart destroyed his own record in the 5000 meters with a clocking of 14:49.2 (the old mark set late in the season last year was 15:15). Aaron Sampson added two and one-half inches to the long jump record held since 1971 by Glenn Richardson. Richard-son. Sampson's new mark is 23-3. The third record came when Kevin Millecam just shaved his way to a new mark in the 110 meter high hurdles. Millecam ran a 15;07. The old mark, set in 1978 by Greg McDonald, was 15.1. Hart is a junior from Newcastle, Iron County, Sampson is a freshman from Salt Lake City (after high school in Los Angeles), and Millecam is a junior from Vernal. "I feel pretty good about our performances, considering that it's our first time out. They let us know where we are. I'm especially pleased with Hart, Millecam, and Bruce Bryan. SUSC picked up three firsts, three thirds, three fourths, and four fifths in Las Vegas. |
