The Salt Lake Scots Pipe Band and associated White Heather Dancers were founded in. 1962. In the early years the band consisted of a small number of members who were interested in piping, drumming and highland dancing; and whom more importantly, wished to preserve the traditions of Scottish music and lore. The White Heather Dancers were added when several girls expressed ex-pressed interest in maintaining the traditional highland dances as part of the band's program. The band and the dancers have won numerous awards in competition, particularly first place awards in Santa Rosa, Calif., which hosts one of the largest highland gatherings in the world. The band also featured in the movie "The Devil's Brigade" in 1967. |
