Next year the sixth grade will be incorporated into the school while the ninth grade will become part of Cedar High School. The new school with grades 6, 7, and 8 will be known as the Cedar City Middle School. Students at CJH are nominated monthly for . Honor Status by faculty members. The Honor Students a are then chosen by a vote of the faculty members based ' on the following considerations: 1. Showing initiative and leadership. 2. Progress toward realistic individual educational goals. 3. Respect for other students, teachers, other's property, and school property. 4. Effective use of class , time. 5. Positive class behavior and participation. 6. General good citizenship qualities. This month 21 ninth grade students, 17 eighth grade, and 20 seventh grade students w were nominated to be Honor Students. "Obviously, we didn't recognize every student who deserves to be," said Principal Dee A. Smith. "But we have tried to through this method to focus some attention on the good students we have at Cedar Jr. High. Too often and too easily, many forget that a majority of our students are top quality kids. It's unfortunate un-fortunate that those few who have or cause problems are so often noticed by the public," stated Smith. May's - Honor Students included: 9th grade: Angie Clark, Scott Hammer, Dan Jones, Michelle Fullmer, John Holwager and Kendra Skougaard. 8th grade: Julie Anderson, Darlene Jessen, Tim Etsitty, Stephanie Paris, Robin Burbidge and Rachelle Pickering. 7th grade: DCenise Matheson, Jeff Heap, Betsy Graff, Michael Fain, Natalie Coleman, Glynnis Adams and John Ferdinand.
