In vocational day spelling competition, no individual awards were given this year. Team awards-both large and small school divisions-went divisions-went to Wayne High School, first; North Sanpete High School, second; and Millard High School, third. Students from Hurricane and Richfield High Schools have been awarded full tuition scholarships to Southern Utah State College as a result of their performance per-formance at SUSC's Business Vocational Day. Scholarship recipients include Curtis Stucki, Hurricane, in accounting, and Janeen Severson, Richfield, Rich-field, in both shorthand and typewriting. Last year Richfield High School students won top honors in shorthand and accounting, with the typewriting scholarship being won by a student from North Sanpete High School says Larry A. Olsen, chairman of SUSC's annual business competition. Olsen said that 550 junior and senior high school students-150 more than last year-were on campus to compete in typewriting I and II, shorthand I and II, accounting, ac-counting, alphabetic filing, spelling relay and business machines math. "These students represented some 30 Utah and Nevada schools and competed in over 675 tests," Olsen says. "Winners in each category were selected for both large and small school divisions." "We are very pleased with the large number of studnets who participated in the contests and with the high level of competency shown," Olsen says.
