Show Informed Voters League Women to hear Garner The monthly m'eet&g of the Utah Association of .Women - Iron .Mission., Region is scheduled ;f or Thursday, May IS at 8:00 p.m. in the Public Uhrary Downstairs ftestwetii W' The f eatotei sp&ke for our general meeting will be Mr. Bruce Garner, who has recently returned from Washington D.C., where he has served a ttireie month internship with Utah's Senator Jake Gam. Mr. Garner hM ep-portunity.to ep-portunity.to view first Itand the wcirkipgs W our ' government; and will discuss some of his experiences ex-periences while In that position to help us to relate to our responsibiliJiijji as citizens and tej ws; what we can do to become involved in-volved on critical issues. Mr. Garner is a junior, Pre-Law student at SUSC and is a top level student committed to progress and ; helping to bring better government to our state. He served as Student Body President at Dixie College before coming to SUSC with his wife and baby: Mr. Garner is an excellent speaker and is very well qualified for this assignment, assign-ment, please plan to attend and participate with the Utah Association fo Women in this worthwhile meeting. Learn how to become involved in-volved in the political process so the public will be. beard on critical issues. A group of active citizens have organized a chapter of the Informed Voters League. Dedicated to the restoration of the Constitution Con-stitution in tradition of the Founding Fathers. Quoting Benjamin Franklin, "a nation of well-informed men, who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them, cannot be enslaved. It is in the region of ignorance that tyranny .': begins." With this in mind, this organization is formed to be of assistance and instrumental in-strumental in encouraging citizens to read, study, and become involved in what is happening both in local, state, and national areas. To promote .; an understanding of love for our Constitution to encourage and sustain the integrity of the family unit as the foundation of the nation. Also ti create within the community a strong spirit of political participation par-ticipation ; and to inform voters concerning significant poltiical issues, candidates and important poltiical processes. The IVL is an independent citizens group which is not identified with any other organization. It is not the intentions of the Chapter to rebel against anyone, but does believe in changing objectionable laws which do ' not follow the guidelines of the Constitution. The President of the Chapter ' is Merrill R. Peterson with Clair Hulet of Parowan serving as Vice , President. Richard Kimball is the Secretary. |
