Show Charles B. Petty, Hurricane Booster, Says Hurricane High Team Was An Outstanding Squad Some observations of the basket-1 ball tournament were turned in to me this week by Charles B. Petty. Mr. Petty was a staunch supporter of the Hurricane team during the tournament. He declares de-clares that the Hurricane team was the favorite with the crowd and at all times had plenty of backing from the fans.. It will be recalled that he is a former Rock-ville-Hurricane resident and has a host of friends and relatives in this district. Following are Mr. Petty's comments: com-ments: By Charles B. Petty The Hurricane boys were a great ball team. This fact is borne out by the following facts: 1st. They had the outstanding, player of the tournament. (Verl Langston). 2nd. They were the strongest scoring team, scoring more points than any other team. 3rd. In Langston they had the highest individual scorer in the tournament. Also, Terry, who won fourth place. 4th. The scored 53 points, the highest scored by any team in any game in the tournament. 5th. Hurricane outscored by 155 to 152 points, four of the strongest strong-est teams of the tournament, as follows: Granite, winner of sec-, ond place; Provo, title holder and winners of third place; Logan, winner win-ner of fourth place; Murray winner win-ner of consolation championship and 5th place. 6th. They played the four leaders lead-ers of the tournament. Had they drawn a couple of easy games first, they could easily have won the tournament. As it was, they i were unable to maintain the high speed that they played throughout through-out the entire tournament with the result that they lost two of the games. |
