Show 'Keep 'em Flying' Is Theme of Dixie Day Parade Held Here "Keep 'Em Flying," was the first and the last word on Dixie Day last Friday. Various elements of defense were represented in the parade at 10:30 in the morning; and the "D" Queen, in her coronation corona-tion ceremony talked on the individuals indi-viduals place in national defense. Barbara Tweedie, the Queen, ascended the throne following a beautiful patriotic ceremony, with the crown being presented by Bill Swapp, studentbody president. Arthur F. Miles and George F. Whitehead, only surviving members mem-bers of the original board of education, edu-cation, recounted experiences in the early days of the school, when they addressed a small audience in the Tabernacle at 11 o'clock. Toasts to the founders were given by Melverine Woodard, LeNora Hafen, Dean Webb, Joyce Lowe and Donald Redd, representing the graduating class of the Woodward and the four college classes. Earlier in the day the "D" was whitewashed. The emblem was lighted preceding the dance, which was the final activity of the day. |
