Show 'This Work Pays Your Community Week' To Be Celebrated Here BY D. C. WATSON Mayor of St. George At the suggestion of the Federal Works Agency, through Colonel F. C. Harrington, Works Projects Administrator, has designated the period from May 20 to 26, inclusive, in-clusive, as "This Work Pays Your Community" week. The purpose is to inform the general public as to the value of the services performed per-formed by the Work Projects Administration, Ad-ministration, especially in the professional pro-fessional and Service Division. This has under its jurisdiction projects having to do with sewing, school lunches, food preservation, education, recreation, arts, research re-search and records and the like. The state as a whole, as represented rep-resented by the Utah State Institute In-stitute of Fine Arts and other statewide agencies, and many municipal and educational subdivisions sub-divisions of the state have all been beneficiaries of such worthwhile worth-while enterprises. They have been vertiable life savers in some communities. com-munities. During "This Work Pays Your Community" week throughout the nation observance will take the form of appropriate dinners, exhibits, ex-hibits, and public inspection of projects of the Professional and Service Division of W.P.A. As Mayor of the City of St. George, I urge that citizens cooperate co-operate and avail themselves of this splendid opportunity to observe ob-serve the W.P.A. "White Collar" Welfare and Community Service projects in action, and that they , evaluate the contribution of such worthy public enterprises to the welfare of their respective communities. |
