Show Near Capacity Crowd Attends Relief Society Celebration The basement of the Tabernacle was crowded to near capacity at 4. p.m. Tuesday, May 14, for the closing literary lesson of the women's wo-men's relief society for 1940. All three wards united for this meeting meet-ing with Leila Atkin, president of the east ward in charge. Besides the preliminary congregational con-gregational singing, there was a violin solo, "Tales of Vienna Woods" by Irene Everett with Mae A. Pace accompanying. Margaret Mar-garet Candland Fisher's outstanding outstand-ing book, "The Bent Twig" was reviewed by Rose Ashby Andrus, literary department leader of the west ward. This book, outlined on the course in literature for the relief societies of the L.D.S. church was presented in a most delightful manner by Mrs. Andrus, and offered a fitting conclusion for the year's work. Appreciation is expressed by the south ward for the courtesy extended in the uniting of the three wards for this session, and by all those attending, to Mrs. Andrus for her splendid contribution. |
