Show National W.P.A. Veek Program Plans Announced St. George and Hurricane To Hold Dinners Monday Evening, May 20 Plans for Utah's part in the national observance of "This Wprk Pays Your Community" week are now virtually complete, according to Darrell J. Greenwell, State Administrator of the Work Projects Administration. During this week, May 20 to 25, citizens will have the opportunity to visit and become thoroughly acquainted with the following projects of the professional and service division of the W.P.A. Sewing, Food Preparation, Nursery Nur-sery Schools, Adult Education, Recreation, Research and Records, Music, Art, Commodity Distribution. Distribu-tion. The program will open Monday evening, May 20, at 7:00 p.m. with a dinner to which the general public and all project workers are invited. In order that everyone every-one may be able to attend, a charge of only 25c a plate is being made. A 10 minute speech will be (Continued on page eight) W.P.A. Week Program (Continued from first page) given by Milton E. Moody, sponsor spon-sor of the local project and Paul Gates, sponsor of the Hurricane project. Following this presentation presenta-tion three minute speeches will be debVered by Mrs. Agnes Hunt, Grant Terry, Mrs. Jessie Gibbins, Mrs. Elsie Wood, at St. George. Blanche Lamb, Bing Holland, and Vivian Spendlove, at Hurricane. From 7:30 to 8:00 p.m. dinner guests will hear a national broadcast broad-cast from Washington, D. C. Speakers will include John J. Carmody, director of the Federal Works Agency; Mrs. Roosevelt, Colonel F. C. Harrington, Commissioner Com-missioner of the W.P.A., and Florence Kerr, Assistant Commissioner Commis-sioner of the W.P.A. The appointment of the following follow-ing committees will insure the success of the week's activities: Margie Dalton, Milton E. Moody, Grant Whitehead, Roxey Romney, Ann P. Robinson at St. George and Margie Dalton, Viola Spendlove, Spend-love, Paul Gates, Cora Brown and Jessie Gibson, at Hurricane. |
