Show Ordinance Passed Requiring Jill Dogs In County To Be Inoculated If Anyone Bitten Since I January 1 Urged 1 To Consult Physician 3 With the death of other dogs 1 reported throughout the county under suspicious circumstances, ' Washington county commis sioners have passed an ordinance requiring all dogs to be inoculated for this disease or to be killed. Pogs must also be kept tied up or in an enclosure for a 15 day n period following inoculation. Any person having been bitten by a dog aw Since January 1 is urged to con-r con-r tact his physician at once since it is pointed out that when the s disease appears in a person or animal, there is nothing that can be done to prevent death. The state board of health has also issued a proclamation governing govern-ing care of animals in this county with recommendations being made similar to those which the county commissioners have adopted. There seems to be some confusion con-fusion in the minds of some peo- pie regarding this disease and its appearance in the county. Some are reported to be blaming Attorney Orval Hafen because his dog was the first one where the disease was found. They point out that any animal could get it and that Mr. Hafen is to be commended for being the one to send the head of his dog in for examination thus bringing the condition to light here. Since all animals can carry the disease and since an animal or person infected in-fected with the disease might carry it for months before showing show-ing the effects, it is urgently recommended that any person having been bitten since January 1, contact his physician at once. Following is the proclamation issued by the state board of health: TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: WHEREAS two dogs in this County have been proven to have died of rabies by examination by the Utah State Board of Health laboratory, and WHEREAS several other dogs have died of suspicious signs of rabies and several others are now suffering with the disease, and WHEREAS many people have been bitten by these dogs, 'It is, therefore, recommended by the State Board of Health that all dogs in the County of Washington Wash-ington and in all cities of said County should either be vaccinated vaccinat-ed for rabies or should be dis posed ot. it is also recommended that all dogs vaccinated should remain tied up for at least fifteen (15) days after receiving the vaccine. vac-cine. All people who have been bitten within the last two (2) months by a dog which has since died or is sick or shows any signs of illness should consult their physician immediately and take the preventative treatment for rabies.
