Show American Red Cross Asks Aid For War Stricken Areas A telegram received by the Washington Wash-ington County Chapter of the American Red Cross appeals to this organization for funds to be used in the alaying of suffering of the peoples of war stricken areas. A sum of $300 is asked of this chapter as its part of the 510,000,000 that the organization is attempting to raise throughout the nation. Anson B. Call and Madge Cannon Can-non are in charge of the drive to raise this sections quota. In making the appeal National Chairman Norman H. Davis, states that the invasion of small neutral nations has spread the death and devastation among the innocent civilian populations and requires large relief funds if the Red Cross is to move to mitigate the suffering. "The hour has struck with a threat of ensuing suffering and horror to be endured by women and children and the aged such as the human mind never has conceived. "I urge all sympathetic Americans Ameri-cans to respond quickly and generously to this appeal by making mak-ing immediate contributions to their local Red Cross chapter", says Mr. Davis. |
